Carrot

The Alto Paranaíba region is greatly relevant in carrot production in Brazil, accounting for 40 percent of the supply of this crop. According to the ESALQ’s Cepea - Centro de Estudos Avançados em Economia Aplicada (Center for Advanced Studies in Applied Economics), in the São Gotardo region (MG), winter crop (July to November) yields reached 95.0 ton/ha, much above the Brazilian average, which was estimated at 28.9 ton/ha in 2012 (Embrapa Hortaliças, 2014).

Our founder, Mr. José Hiroiti Okuyama, stands out among the pioneers who introduced the culture in the region. We always invest in cutting-edge technology applied to the activity, careful positioning production and irrigation system variables, aligned with the rational use of the soils, allowing for better crop rotation between the properties.

The company also has its own washer to process its production, thus, this activity in the field and at the processor generates about 150 direct and indirect jobs for the region. We serve the Minas Gerais, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Espírito Santo, and Northern and Northeastern Brazilian markets through HortLand®. Because it is a high value-added crop, it requires the producer to have experience and solid infrastructure to always remain in that activity.
